He Shoots, He Scores!
![]() The Grand Forks, B.C. arena was the scene of some outstanding Ice Hockey this weekend as former members of the Grand Forks Border Bruins returned from all over Canada and the states to their old stomping grounds for the second installment of the Border Bruins Alumni tournament. There are over 600 former Bruins as the team has been around since 1969. Enough came home this weekend to form four separate teams as they battled it out for the trophy and bragging rights. I expect there are more than a few bruises and sore muscles because this was anything but "gentleman's hockey". We fans got more than our money's worth as these guys were skating, shooting and even hitting like the good old days. This was better than most pro hockey you'll see on TV. It's not surprising that Grand Forks has produced several NHL stars over the last 37 years. One of the highlights of the weekend was when the 1973-74 team was presented with their long overdue Division Championship banner. Better late than never. |
