On The Other Hand...
| There is a group of people in Bangor, Maine who make it their mission to really support the troops. They show up at the airport to meet the flights and to greet American troops who may be heading off to war or coming home. They offer hugs, fudge and the use of their cell phones to the troops. "The Maine Troop Greeters, a community group that has dutifully gathered at this tiny airport in central Maine since May 2003. At the close of this night last Tuesday, the group had tallied 1,403 flights, filled with 260,927 men and women in uniform."I remember getting a call from our son when he had one of those cell phones pressed into his hand before he flew out of the states to serve in Iraq. I can't tell you how much that kindness meant to us. |
