What Goes Around...

My wife is learning to Hula Hoop. That's pretty cool in and of itself. And since she's really starting to get into it, I figured that I would buy her a cool one.
So I've been checking online and doing a lot of research, following web-links, etc. And I finally settled on one and ordered it along with an instructional video, to the tune of about $80.00.
I just got a confirmation email and it's on the way. YAY!

Now let me be clear... I am fully aware that a lot of people who are into "Hooping" are usually tilting a bit the the left, if you know what I mean and I think you do. Hooping goes hand in hand with a healthy lifestyle, herbs, holistic medicine and other crap like that. Many of the Hooping websites go on and on about the "spirituality" and "inner peace" that comes with getting in tune with your body or your "inner child".

But while following these links and doing this research, I beleive I've stumbled upon the dark side of Hooping. It seems some of these Hoopers are also Haters.
That's right folks, while they are talking about Peace, Love and Understanding, they sometimes let it slip that they also Hate George W. Bush. GASP!

I ran across this quote on one of those Hooping sites, by the very person who will soon be spending my hard-earned $80.00.
“I wouldn't put it past George Bush to outlaw the hula-hoop. He’s so afraid of love and beauty and eroticism and peace.” –HOOP GIRL
Excuse me?

This is what I like to call the "Dixie Chick Syndrome".
Is there something that snaps in the liberal brain that makes them say stupid things that might later be put into print and possibly affect future sales of their product? Are those people really living in such a bubble that they are unaware that there are a lot of us who may disagree with them?

They also don't seem to understand that they can't hide this stuff on the Internets (sic). They can thank Al Gore for that.

For example, I was on yet another Hooping website and followed the links to find the father of her baby's MySpace site.
His list of "Heros" includes this comment:
MAYOR RAY NAGIN of New Orleans, for standing up to the presiding crackhead of the gov't...way to go...fucking vacationing bastard...the mayor is right...its all YOUR fault...
So my advice to these folks is to stop worrying so much about "Big Brother" invading your privacy and concentrate more on zipping your virtual fly.

In the meantime, I think I'll start making hula hoops for the rest of us.
But of course, mine will only be able to spin to the right.
